Pirates of the Prairie

Garden Studio Audio Creations of Monroe Wisconsin is proud and pleased to announce the release of a CD of 15 original songs called "The Sweet Life".  All songs are composed, performed and sung by Bill Rients with lyrics by Terry Hollembaek

"The Sweet Life" is a pop/rock/folk collections of songs  about the seaman and pirates of the 16th , 17th and 18th centuries.  Although great attention was paid to historical accuracy and seafaring terminology, the melodies, the amnesic and the recording are all "today".  The songs include wistful ballads, love songs and of course rousing tunes of carousing, attack and plunder.

Green County residents Mauro Magellan and Joel Brantmier have brought their considerable talents at percussion instruments to the project. Greg Anderson of local polka band popularity plays accordion on several songs and Randy Schneeburger appears as an instrumentalist and as a member of the back-up singers nicknamed the "Scurvy Dogs".  Other Scurvy Dogs include Green county residents, John Patterson, John Peterson, Vincent Peterson, Steve Stratton, Chris Weis, Herb Wilson, Kevin Winkler and Dr. George Breadon.  Also appearing are Peggy Miller Sheffer, Linda Wendt and Jennifer Deprez.

Bill Rients is a well known local performing artist who often appears solo, with the  rock band "The Love Bunglers" or with the popular Irish band "Stone Ring"  Bill and his wife Barb also own and operate Rolan Hills Pet Boarding and Grooming.  This will be the 10th CD that Bill has been involved with.

Terry Hollembaek and his wife Nancy own Nancy's Meadow Herbs, north of town where they host summer concerts in the ruins of their old barn.  Many Monroe residents may know him best as Father Christmas.  He is the author of "Inside Out Gardening".
